This specialty skill represents a hero’s alertness and powers of observation using normal senses—a broken twig, the click of a gun’s safety, the scent of perfume.

Avoid Surprise

When potential danger obviously exists, a hero’s subconscious use of this skill can help him avoid being caught by surprise. Success indicates that the hero isn’t surprised and can act in the surprise phase of the upcoming round.
